Help Barry with his terminal cancer medical treatment costs

This GoFundMe has been set up to directly help my dear friend Barry Cunningham who has been diagnosed with terminal Bowel Cancer.

All funds generated will go directly to Barry, to cover his medical expenses for his cancer treatments, his day to day living costs with no income, and to assist with the closure of his business.

Barry has been so humbled by the generosity and kindness of everyone.

On Monday (9th Sept) Barry commences Immunotherapy on top of his chemotherapy.

The most recent round of chemo was rather debilitating for Barry, he was very sick.

Barry really appreciates all of the messages that he has been receiving, it really does brighten his day to know that he is in everyone's thoughts and prayers at this very challenging time.

Barry and David own a café. Having worked hard over the years to build their business, their dedication to their cafe has never wavered, building their future together, they had resiliently carried-on for months after his initial diagnosis.

His terminal cancer diagnosis has profoundly impacted both him and David.

Barry began his cancer treatment in early July undergoing a week of radiotherapy. He made the two hour round trip every day to the hospital for this treatment. Barry has now commenced chemotherapy treatment.

The aim of the treatment is to improve Barry's quality of life.

The side effects of the chemotherapy have now made it impossible for Barry to maintain the business. He is now needing David to be his full-time caregiver.

Closing the business will not only mean a loss of income but an expenditure to finalise accounts and settle the outstanding payments.

Barry has had to close the door and walk away from the business.

Barry now needs our support. Your donations, no matter how small, which you might think might not make a difference will make a big difference to Barry.

I first met Barry 1992 at Catering College in Portrush, Northern Ireland. I moved to Australia and Barry soon followed in 1998.

As Barry’s friend Joe said to me, “It’s not like we can all just pop round to see him and leave some food on his doorstep”.
