Help Lopat Panthers Honor Matt Veres Scoreboard!

Hi there! The Lopatcong Athletic Association is proud to announce a fundraising effort to erect a new scoreboard at Frederick Fieldhouse in honor of legendary Lopat coach, Matt Veres!

We are excited to combine two things about which we are passionate - first is that our scoreboard is in a sorry state! She has served us well over the years, in fact, it's been the same scoreboard since Matty started coaching for over twenty (20!) seasons for the Panthers. The scoreboard is faded, peeling, and worn. It faces south and has taken a lot of sun exposure over the years. It's time for our Panthers to have a winning scoreboard to match our winning seasons!

More importantly, you all know Matty. Countless kids, now parents, in Lopat were coached and shaped by Matt's dedication to child empowerment, dedication, and learning through sport. He currently helped his son reshape an amazing wrestling program at Notre Dame High, and his daughter teaches at Lopatcong Elementary as a second-grade educator. Clearly, the Veres family has been a keystone to the betterment and success of our community. Lopatcong Athletic Association is extremely excited to honor Matt in dedicating the scoreboard.

Anyone who played for, coached with, or was a parent or friend of Matt when coaching Lopat football remembers him rushing to practice with his "Elizabethtown Gas" shirt on, not even making it home first, to ensure time with the kids. If a child wasn't there, Matt gave them a call to see if things were alright. If a kid couldn't make it to practice because they didn't have a ride, Matt had Coach Hartman and Reap run drills for a few minutes while he drove over to pick him up. Matt Veres is and was the quintessential coach. Help us honor his legacy by donating today.

Our goal is to fundraise, purchase equipment, obtain any necessary permits, and install before the 2023 season. For that to happen, we need your generosity today! Updates on the project after your donation will be posted on this page. Every dollar of this donation will go towards the project, and if we are so lucky to overshoot the donation amount needed for the scoreboard, every single dollar will go towards the Lopatcong Athletic Association for need-based projects moving forward.
