Lora, Durgham and Adam Walk for Gaza

Hello! We're the Mushtaha family. We are Irish Palestinians living in Galway, Ireland.

We've established this fundraising page to assist our family in Gaza in coping with the devastating impacts of war. The money we raise will go directly to our family and be allocated to those facing the greatest need to try and rebuild their lives after the war.

Our late father, Hani, was Palestinian and our Mum, Ann, is Irish. Lora and I spent our childhood in Gaza, and Adam was born in Galway. Our family in Gaza is made up of Dad’s 4 brothers and 5 sisters with their husbands, wives and children. They were all displaced when our family home was destroyed in December. In the airstrike, 3 of our cousin's children were killed and our uncle Sami lost his leg. They all left Gaza City with the little they could carry and walked to Rafah, some 40km south.

Our Family Home

In Rafah, on St. Stephen's Day, the building they were staying in was bombed and our cousin Tariq, an accountant, with his wife and 4 children was killed. Our Uncle Ghassan, a retired English teacher, was also killed with his youngest daughter. What is left of our family is now sleeping in shelters and struggling to find food and water. After the war, they will be homeless.

In solidarity with our family, we will be running/walking 400km - representing the 40km each of Dad's siblings had to walk with their families when they were displaced from their home in Al Remal in Gaza City to Rafah in the south.
