Loreen's Cancer Journey

Our dear mom, Loreen Lawrence, aka Doreen or Dor, has just been diagnosed with locally advanced Laryngeal Carcinoma shortly after arriving in the USA. Coming to America has been one of her dreams and to contribute to her community as she has always done while in Jamaica. She is a devoted mother, wife, teacher, and friend/relative who always has an encouraging word to share.

As a family, we have been paying out of pocket, including imaging, consultation among others. After meeting with the cancer multidisciplinary team, we learned that her cancer is treatable and potentially curable if treatment commences immediately. Her treatment will involve an intensive regimen with concurrent chemotherapy and radiation.

The financial burden of medical expenses, treatment costs, and the challenges that come with managing a disease like this is immense and that is the reason we are reaching out to raise funds that will go directly into covering her treatment costs and ease financial strain and additional stress on our family during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, whether small or large will make a difference as this type of cancer has a high propensity to be aggressive if treatment is further delayed.
