Lorenzen Children Education Fund

Donation protected
On January 26, 2018, our friend and colleague Ed Lorenzen passed away tragically in a house fire. Ed’s contributions to the budget community in Washington will be felt for years to come, and he will always be remembered for his subtle, legendary wit that was unmatched. What those close to Ed know is that his proudest achievement was his three wonderful children: Zacheri, Michael, and Penny. Tragically, Michael was also lost in the fire and was found in Ed’s arms, but heroically Zacheri was able to carry Penny to safety.

To honor Ed’s memory and support his two surviving children, we are creating a long-term educational fund for Zacheri and Penny. This fund will help to take the burden of paying for college off of the family and children. All donations made through this page will go directly to support this effort. If you would like to make a donation through another means, please contact Chris Rotella ([email redacted]) and other arrangements can be made.

Upon the completion of the campaign, the raised funds will be withdrawn from GoFundMe and combined with all cash/check donations made directly to our office. The funds will then be deposited into custodian accounts, in even amounts, for both Penny and Zacheri. These accounts will be used for the purpose of helping to fund their higher education expenses.

*The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB) is facilitating the creation of the fund outside of its normal business mission, so all donations made to "Lorenzen Children Education Fund" will not be recorded as donations to CRFB. Due to the nature of the fund, this also means that donations are not tax deductible.
