My name is KL and I am the youngest daughter or Loretta “Shaya” Chino.
Early this morning, April 16th, our mother has returned home to the Spirit World and is survived by her Daughters, Grandsons, Grand-daughters, and Great-grandson. At this time, a farewell is underway.
Shimá was Tsénjíkíní (Cliff Dwellers - Diné), born for Shask Hano (Road Runner - Acoma Pueblo), Násht’éézhí Tabaaha is her grandpa. She was originally from Dilkon, AZ and comfortably made her home in Tuba City, AZ. She was a very active member of the community affiliated with the school board and Western Navajo Fair as well as the political party in Arizona working closely with the senator. She was well-known as our very own “Navajo Tina Turner” that brought smiles performing across our Diné nation. Aside from her community recognition, she was our matriarch—our mother. Not only a mother to us, but a mother to anyone who came across her. Her gentle touch, stern words, and everlasting love with forever be missed.
On behalf of my family, we are gathering donations for Shimá to assist in funeral costs. We know this is a difficult time for everyone and we greatly appreciate you all for your prayers. A funeral date, and meetings will be announced on her FB page “Shaya Chino”.
If you have any questions, you may contact me through FB “KL Chino”.
