Help Support Lori Beynon's Recovery

As most of you have probably heard, our dear friend Lori was admitted to the ICU on Memorial Day during her trip to California. Lori had not been feeling well since just after Christmas 2017, and had been seeing different doctors trying to figure out why. She had been feeling progressively worse just before she left for her trip, but in typical fashion, she tried to make the best of a bad situation and laughed about the fact that she threw up on the plane and she put the bag in her purse!

After arriving in California and she was not well, not able to eat, Kristi, Lori’s daughter insisted on taking Lori to urgent care.  Upon hearing her symptoms and history, Lori had an MRI where they saw she had a brain tumor that had hemorrhaged.  She was admitted to ICU right away and scheduled for brain surgery the very next day, which lasted about 7 hours. The following day, the surgeon gave news that fluid was still building up in Lori’s brain, and another surgery was necessary later that day to put in a drain and try to get the rest of the tumor.  Her family was extremely grateful and felt it was a miracle that she eventually woke from not one but two major brain surgeries.

Lori spent close to a month in ICU and was monitored closely.  The pathology report was inconclusive and they are seeking additional tests and opinions.  Lori has some serious challenges ahead of her.  She has significant visual impairment, cognitive function challenges, as well as physical challenges affecting her mobility.  She is attending a brain rehabilitation program for 6.5 hours a day and working hard to recover.

This has been an unexpected event in Lori’s, and her family’s, lives. Lori has an amazing support system and family. Her kids are devoted and committed to their Mom’s care.  Lori will continue to be the strong, funny, and positive woman that she is, despite the enormous challenges ahead of her.  As friends and colleagues, we ask, what can I do to help? As the medical, brain injury rehab, and other bills associated with this life changing event start coming in, we can all work together to show our support by contributing. No contribution is too large or too small.

Please help our friend!! She has spread so much light and so much joy to others, I would love to see some of that come back to her during this difficult time. Thank you!
