Friends -- many of us who know and love LORI DOODY are familiar with the many health challenges she has faced in the past couple years. Now more than ever, our friend is in need of some LOVE and SUPPORT as she continues her journey towards healing. PLEASE consider how we can all rally together to shower LORI and her faithful fiance Teresa with support during this time. For those not as familiar with all that Lori has faced, please see the synopsis below, provided by Teresa. Let's show the girls how much we love them!
LORI'S JOURNEY - By Teresa
On Jan 1st 2021 lori woke up slurring, was dizzy and had some numbness down her rt arm, we rushed her to ER, all test came back negative. After working hard on her speech, walking and physical activity, Lori returned to work and seemed okay. Yet Lori’s symptoms began to worsen on Jan 30th we finally got the neurologist she was working with for headaches to order another MRI of her brain, the results came back with multiple focal stroke of the cerebellum. The last time Lori was able to talk clearly was March 3 2021, she was singing happy birthday to an amazing bunt cake she had gotten for her 51st birthday. During this time Lori received her vaccines and her condition got even worse. She began having major bouts of vertigo, difficulty speaking and she was unable to walk safely without assistance from me or a walker. By April 4th She lost her ability to type, speak and her motor skills kept her from safely going up and down the stairs in our house. We made a decision to sell out townhome, with Lori unemployed I began looking for more or better employment in SE Florida, I could only find suitable employment that afforded our family in Cape Coral. When I got the report to take with us there was an addendum one month after by the Radiologist that stated it could be a stroke, or Acute disseminated Encephalomyelitis or even Encepholitis, we took her to Holy Cross and within one day she was hospitalized and spent 28 days in their rehab. Lori was able to scoot around with a walker at that time, we moved form Fort Lauderdale in June 2021 and Lori was fired July 2021, she has not worked since. We have been to multiple hospitals and new doctors, Lori wasn’t getting better, friends were helping with her talking and motor skills then as she became sicker i thought Lori was having an appendicitis we got a CT at the ER and found that Lori has a mass the size of a football and it is ovarian cancer. She recently had to go to University of Miami doctors, due to her Obama care insurance, and come to find out they feel that Loris conditions are caused by the Cancer, it is called paraneoplastic syndrome. Lori had a majorly surgery Dec 22 has not being able to have any visitors due to Covid restrictions. She has a long fight ahead of her and she remains at UMI until Insurance tells us the next step. We are hoping the first denial to go to an acute rehabilitation center will be accepted again when her doctors got to battle for her. Lori has a long journey ahead of her.
