In May 2016 I was enjoying a beautiful Mothers Day with my family when I suddenly doubled over in extreme pain. Three days later I was told that I had a mass encasing my celiac artery, blood vessels and nerves causing a blockage of the artery. They also told me that they thought it was cancer. Since then I have had three attempts at a biopsy and numerous tests. Because of the location of the mass, it is too dangerous for them to get close enough to it for an accurate biopsy. They can't treat it until they know what it is and there is no way for them to find out what it is. It has now caused a dissection of the artery. I live each day nauseous and in pain, yet hopeful that someone will figure this out.
The most recent consensus amongst the many teams of doctors that are following my situation is that there is nothing more they can do for me. It's at the point now where all they can do is try to keep me as comfortable as possible by trying to manage my pain and nausea. The mass, which is inoperable, will likely cause more problems like the recent dissection of the artery. I had a feeling this news was coming and thought I was prepared to hear it. I was wrong. I'm sick and I'm scared but I refuse to give up. With the insurance I have I am quite limited in seeking more opinions in finding a solution but I will keep searching. With the wonderful support from my family and friends I will stay strong and keep fighting!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.
