Lori's Fight
Donation protected
Lori Ann Houghton is a wife to Ron, a mother to Haley, a grandmother to Kingsley, a sister to Shawn and Donnie and daughter to Johnnie. To everyone that knows Lori she is a remarkable spirit and influence in our lives. Her infectious smile always brightens the room, her positive attitude lifts us up, her tenacity is inspiring and her caring and giving nature are a blessing to us all.
Lori has just been diagnosed with metastatic carcinoma stage 4 in her lung and chest. This is Lori’s 3rd bout with cancer, having been first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. After recovering from a single mastectomy, she was again diagnosed with breast cancer on the other side. She successfully underwent a second mastectomy and was cancer free for several years. Then in 2018 she began feeling some pain in her chest again and went to see a doctor who did an MRI. The results showed nothing was wrong, so she returned to her busy work schedule and personal life.
In February of 2020 Lori became ill and after a chest x-ray they found that she had a respiratory infection. She was treated with antibiotics but became ill again soon after. She returned to see her doctor and had to fight to get another x-ray taken which showed that the infection had turned into pneumonia. After another round of stronger antibiotics was over, she still felty poorly. She was then referred to a lung specialist who after doing a biopsy informed her that her cancer had returned. With more doctor visits and subsequent tests, it was determined that the cancer had spread to one lung with the possibility of infiltrating her bones.
Standard treatment is 14 months of a low dose chemotherapy along with hormone therapy and a medication for osteoporosis to strengthen her bones. None of this will cure her cancer, it will only “control” it for a while. After all this, a more aggressive treatment will be needed. Ron and Lori began doing a lot of research, watching some highly informative videos, and learning about how natural treatment can cure this cancer. They have decided to go to a holistic treatment facility called Hope4Cancer in Mexico. This treatment program is a 3-week process that will get Lori’s body in a healthy state so that it can heal itself. There will also be treatment that she will do at home after they return to Oregon including supplements to help her stay healthy.
From the time of Lori’s latest diagnosis earlier this year and through her treatment plan, Ron and Lori will incur a heavy financial burden, costing them over $55,000. We as friends and family have the opportunity to help lighten that burden by donating to their cause. Let’s help Lori focus on healing her body and not worry about the tremendous financial cost this will be to them. Please consider making a donation today to help pay for medical bills and Lori’s treatment.
Thank you!
