Lorna & Richard's Fight for Life
Donation protected
On behalf of our family, I am seeking to raise money for my Aunty & Uncle, Lorna and Richard.
Two of the most caring, kind, determined and positive people, that even during retirement, live life to the fullest, travelling to the other side of the world on a dream holiday. Lorna & Dicko have spent their whole lives caring and looking after others and now they need us.
On Wednesday 25th September 2019, whilst on their retirement European Motorbike tour, Lorna & Richard were involved in a serious accident which has left them in critical condition fighting through life threatening injuries in a Hospital in Austria.
With their Motorcycle tour group travelling on a ride in Northern Italy, tragedy struck coming around a bend when they rode past a tractor towing a cattle trailer. We are still unsure of exactly what happened but the trailer overturned and landed on top of them. It’s a miracle they survived at the scene but they were airlifted to a nearby hospital, which wasn’t equipped to handle the severity of their injuries. They were then rushed to University Hospital in Austria where they have both since been in induced comas whilst in an out of surgeries. Currently in critical but stable condition.
Their two sons and other family members have flown to their bedside from Australia & New Zealand.
Due to the severity of their injuries we don’t know how long it will be until we can bring them home, but we do know it will be a long recovery in Austria away from family and friends, followed by a long healing journey back home in Australia.
Both Lorna & Richard’s legs and pelvis were crushed with Lorna unfortunately having a leg amputated. Richard has suffered a ruptured Aorta and both have broken ribs and ruptured spleens. The list of injuries continues.
Any money donated will go straight to their sons Steve & Paul to cover all medical costs, equipment and anything associated with their long recovery and to bring them home. This will include rehab and anything they may need to help them adapt to new life challenges & difficulties they will now be facing.
We thank you in advance for your help and appreciate if you could share this fund.
