Lorraine's Missionary trip:The Dominican Republic

Greetings from Ouachita Baptist University! I am currently a sophomore studying Christian studies and business. Last semester I was fortunate enough to take 18 hours and understand the meaning of good work and a driven focused mindset. Aside from academics the friendships Iʼve made have been so encouraging. I have had developed opportunities to grow in my faith journey, especially with my involvement in a ministry organization called Cru. Cruʼs vision is that everyone, everywhere would know someone who truly follows Jesus.

This Spring, I have the opportunity to go on a trip with Filter of Hope, one of Cruʼs partners (March 17th-23rd). Filter of Hopeʼs mission is to reach lives all across the world with clean water and the Living Water of Jesus Christ. They have been providing impoverished families with clean water since 2012 through a state-of-the-art water filter! According to the World Health Organization, one child dies every 20 seconds due to water-related illnesses. Through these filters, they help save the lives of children and their families.

On the trip, we will go house-to-house with local churches to provide water filters to families and have a chance to share the Gospel using the analogy of dirty water being made clean. This is a powerful illustration of what Jesus does for those who believe in him: he makes us pure and transforms us into a new creation. Iʼm excited to grow closer in my relationship with God as well as sharing the gospel with others!!!
