recovery from a hand blast injury
In the early hours of July the 5th, my life changed in a dramatic and permanent way. While lighting of the last firework of the night, a mortar exploded in my hand. It took 6 surgeons and 5 hours to salvage my hand, in what they hope will be a functioning hand, some day. Unfortunately, they were unable to save my ring finger. This finger and the channel of bone, tendon and ligament are now gone, having my pinky moved to that channel to form a potentially gripping hand. A major artery, nerves, and vessels had to be repaired and i now have pins, plates, and screws stabalizing the bones and ligaments. The journey to recovery and hopeful full use of my hand will be a long and arduous one. I am willing to make this journey to someday return to the job i love, which is being a welder. I also to be able to grip a stick shift to get to my job, as well as the many things i will need my dominant hand for. To get anything back i will need exstensive therapy and possible repairs. The cost of these repairs are out of my reach. I would treasure and value any support given to me to sustain myself while i am recovering to offset the loss and costs. Thank you!
