Loss of home twice in one year
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Marie Alford. Today I am raising funds on behalf of one of my closest friends / someone that my daughter calls grandma. Since meeting Danielle Rayner 5 years ago, she has become family to me. She’s my other mother.
Unfortunately, life hasn’t been very kind to Danielle the last few years. To start off, just this morning (May 3rd 2022), she lost her new home and all her cats in an apartment fire on Cardinal Ave in Abbotsford, BC. The suite beside hers caught fire just before 6am and she woke up to flames completely engulfing her ceiling and coming down the walls. She ran out and started knocking on doors, trying to get everyone out, and getting some minor burns in the process. Unfortunately, in all the commotion, her 3 cats were lost and are confirmed deceased. Danielle only just moved into this apartment at the end of 2021.
Just months before in November 2021, Danielle lost her home in the Abbotsford floods. Everything was so damaged, she had to start from scratch. She also had to give her dog, Jewel, away because the trauma of the flood caused her
to become very territorial and aggressive with strangers, which obviously didn’t pan out well in an apartment building. She was so excited to have found this new place on Cardinal and to have finally replaced everything she needed.
To top this off, Danielle also has cancer. I can’t remember the name of it, but it’s a long one (will update when I get the name) I’ve watched her go through many rounds of different treatments (including radiation and chemo), drastic fluctuations in her health, severe bouts of anxiety and depression, and different surgeries which all affect her ability to just go through life.
Nobody deserves to go through what she’s been through and nothing can soften the pain of losing one’s beloved animals. However, I know she could use a lot of help rebuilding her life again. Any monetary amount donated will all go to her to aid in this process.
