LostDogCoffee in Shepherdstown Best Virginia has been in
in business over 24 years now; serving the community with love, care and devotion.
But Sometimes things change in an instant. Sometimes, out of nowhere, the universe throws a brand new kind of pitch at you and you have to completely re-learn how to swing and hit a home run.
On March 12th 2020 I made the decision to close Lost Dog's storefront doors due to the mounting dangers of the COVID-19 pandemic. It became clear that the risk of serving our products in the shop was just too risky for my employees and my community. I was crushed by the weight, the gravity and consequence of that single moment of realization.
Having to come to terms with the reality of this situation, my son Barista Zane and I knew we had few choices to make for the future.
1) We could throw in the towel cash our chips in and move on. Calling it a great run and do something different somewhere else.
or
2) Stand firm in resolve and change our entire game plan Throw out the old script and start LostDogCoffee new again with an "ante up" exciting and fresh passion play. A NEW and BETTER operation for an unknown future!
We see this point in time to be a WONDERFUL exclusive opportunity. An opportunity that will never come around again. Embracing the lemons and making lemonade. We have no choice in the matter.
We have come up with a plan that will give us the chance to adapt to this NEW evolving world.
LostDogCoffee has thrived with many peaks and valleys over the last 24 years. There has been feast and famine. Happiness and saddens. Countless stories to tell. So many lives effected. So much LOVE!
What a long strange trip it has been...we can't let it stop here.
LostDog has been called many things over the years. Iconic and tenacious. Hardworking and resilient. "Devoted to serving community". "Assisting and providing for others". "An essential and necessary part of Shepherdstown " Funky. Eclectic. Dedicated. Crazy. "A beacon of hope and inspiration". "Purveyor of Love".
What is it for you?
LostDogCoffee MUST survive. But a plan without working capital is just a plan. We are already working to gut the store, and rebuild a NEW LostDogCoffee. A complete revamping and reconsideration is already underway. One that will accommodate window service, expanded outside seating in a new garden area behind the shop, a small baking kitchen for OUR pastries and baked goodies. We plan to begin bottling our handcrafted DirtyDawg Chai concentrate. We have recently started local delivery and shipping of or beans and tea leaf to make our rent an utilities. A completely NEW LostDog that will be the SAME LostDog. The funky fun, casual and eclectic world class operation it has become.
It lives because YOU made it happen.
Aggressive and decisive action MUST be initiated.
I have a personal obligation to keep it safe and alive for our army or minions.
That's where you come in.
The project will take around $20,000 and change.
Please consider a donation to make this happen. We realize this is a very challenging time for everyone. Any amount that you might will go a very long way.
With your kind consideration we WILL get through this.
We WILL stand strong!
We will WIN!
LostDogLoves each and everyone of you.
