My father, August Sr, regretfully left behind a son, John, in the Philippines amidst the chaos of the Vietnam War. Despite their best efforts, my father and my mother, Sharon, tried and failed to find John. This came to be a moment of shame that has followed my father throughout his life.

All funds will go to pay for transportation costs like flights, hotels, obtaining passports, rental cars, food and general travel expenses. The family are all contract workers and have no vacation time, so anything left over will help to pay for missed wages while they will be away from their jobs.
