Lost home in tornado for Carol Crosby

Donation protected
As our country suffers through a terrible pandemic of the Corona virus, other catastrophic events of a natural nature continue to happen. On April 22, 2020 the small town of Onalaska, Texas experienced a horrific tornado leaving 17 people dead and numerous homes destroyed. Our friend Carol Crosby’s home was totally demolished. Although her home was small, it had a special meaning to Carol because it was built from the ground up by her father over 50 years ago.  She has lived there for about 25 years herself.

With tears in her voice, Carol told us that she wants to go home but she has no home any more. She told us how difficult it is to live out of suitcases and paper bags. It is hard for any of us to live that way, but think of how difficult it must be when you are blind.  From personal experience we can tell you that having to search with our hands through bags and boxes is very trying. But the saddest thing of all is that Carol cannot have the comfort of her little dachshund during this time because dogs are not always welcome wherever she is staying until she finds another home.

Sadly, tornado insurance is not available. Carol is dependent on whatever government assistance she can receive. Ann Foxworth, Paula Margeson, and Mary Sue Welch are requesting donations to help Carol replace some of what she lost. We met Carol while we were all attending The Texas School For The Blind and we were children. Since we were living away from our families at a residential school for the blind, we helped each other as though we were family. Now, here we all are in our 70’s  and one of us has no home to go to. We want to help our friend and sister find a way to replace some of what she lost.

Although Carol worked throughout her life, she retired a few years ago due to health issues.  we feel that she needs our help. Would you please consider making a donation so that Carol’s dream of having a home again can come true? Every dollar will help because so many of her possessions were destroyed. We are hopeful that Carol’s story will touch your hearts as it has touched ours.
