I want to pass a message through my short film, Lost in Eden (Perdue dans l'Eden - ). For this, I need your help. Indeed, this film is close to my heart because it speaks of a reality, immigrants in France live.
With this project, I wish to address all those who have not lived this situation.
HOW THE PROJECT WAS BORN?
The desire to make this short film was born from a difficulty that the director is currently experiencing: being an immigrant in France. The feeling of having to be reborn in order to integrate in a country whose culture, language and way of life are different. All this made him think of the ritual drama of life.
In 2021, this is just an everyday occurrence in Europe. Yet most of French people don't really know what immigrants feel and experience. Similarly, in Japan, his native country, moving abroad is still a "fantasy" that is only shown on movie screens for the vast majority. However, there are lots of immigrants: Chinese, Korean, Brazilian etc., who are often victime of the society. How is it possible to treat them differently from ourselves?
Since 2020, we live in a post-COVID world. This pandemic makes us ironically equal: we are all vulnerable. What if it is an immigrant who has the power to change the world?

SYNOPSIS
Paris, France is facing the wave of an epidemy. Rika, a young Japanese girl is in trouble renewing her residence permit by marriage with a French man, Isaac. But the administration never proceeds. However, they discover that Rika would be the only person with the antibody against this epidemy. France proposes a permanent residency to her only if she provides herself to their experiment. Japan, on the other hand, contacts and menaces her with her parents being hostage. Then the secret from her youth comes to light. This is a story of identity searching and Cornelian dilemma...

Immigration, the eternal theme of human who is seeking a better place to be...
Being an immigrant myself in France, every single day here is survival. Although, it would still be hard to imagine for those who have never experienced this lifetime event. As it is, it could also happen to anybody. Without using political methods, I would like to show this, the hardest but the most energic moment of life by the power of cinematography.
For every immigrant living in hard times and who has never imagined their life...

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Akihiro Hakim HAYASHI
After his participation in commercials, Akihiro Hakim HAYASHI started his career as a producer for short TV films in Tokyo. Being experienced as a production manager, assistant director, he is considered a rare "technical" producer. He also directed the event clips in Visual Voice. The production which is also the organizer of an international festival qualified for the Oscars.
