Lost in the Cold: Justice for Remy

My life changed forever the day my dog, Remy, was wrongfully taken from me from me by my soon to be ex husband and surrendered to New Spirit 4 Aussie Rescue. When I found Remy (09/28/24), I immediately reached out to the rescue to reclaim him. My heart sank when they not only blocked me and ignored me for weeks but straight out denied my application without a reasonable explanation. Only saying they weren’t giving me back my dog because I posted on Facebook and he was 2 months past due on his rabies. Although true, 2024 was challenging for me. 2/1/2024 I was wrongfully terminated for whistleblowing at my job. (Pending lawsuit), then this summer after years of therapy and counseling I decided to end my 9 year relationship/marriage for my own mental health and move out. The events and unfortunate circumstances led to Remy being past due on his vaccinations and I would’ve never let it happen had I been financially able to afford them at the time.

Although I accept my accountability I do not believe the rescue had a legitimate reason to keep me from my dog of 8 years.

Determined to fight for my dog, I hired an attorney. On that very same day 12/17/24, the rescue claimed that Remy "slipped out of his harness" and ran off after a deer. Despite my desperate pleas, they refused to provide even the most basic information—such as the direction he ran—making it nearly impossible to organize effective search efforts. Now, my dog has been missing for over a month in below-freezing temperatures, and the rescue has shown no accountability for their negligence.

I’m left with no choice but to take legal action to seek justice for my dog and hold this rescue accountable. This legal battle is not just about monetary value—Remy is family, and I won’t give up on him.

I’m asking for your support to fund:

Mainly, Legal fees to sue the rescue for negligence and recover my dog.

Posters, trapping supplies, and recovery services (like thermal drones) to continue the search for my dog.

This journey has been devastating, but it has also opened my eyes to the incredible need for animal advocacy. Together, we can help bring Remy home and provide hope to other animals in need.
