Lou Gehrig's Disease - ALS Patient Expenses
Donation protected
I am married to Shirley she is 63 years old on disability and a mother of 5 children, we currently have one 16-year-old living at the house. Shirley is on disability and I take care of her daily needs she requires 24 hours of attention due to this I am unable to work.
Shirley was diagnosed with ALS in June after a year and a half of slowly getting weaker. I had a job in our small town, but due to her health decline, she needed more attention for her daily requirements. She is currently on Medicare which requires a co-pay for all medical requirements of her condition. I had to leave my job to take care of her. This made it impossible to meet our monthly expenses, medical, and transportation needs.
We would be using this money for a van that is wheelchair accessible to go to her appointments, checkups, grocery shop with her and our son, and be able to get out of the house and enjoy the time she has left with our family and friends. The donations would also help with medical expenses and unexpected expenses that her disability payment is unable to cover.
If the Van lives longer than her, we will be donating the van to another ALS family in need.
