Loud Black Girls x Tell 'Em Girl Fund

Donation protected
Tell 'Em Girl x Loud Black Girls are officially accepting donations.

Founded in 2017, both platforms have been serving the Ottawa community by providing women within our community with a platform to be themselves without apology. With priority being given to BIPOC and LGBTQ2+, the platforms have provided the community with emergency support services, events & workshops, mentorship opportunities and more. With the exception of two grants from Youth Action Now and a grant from Black Market Creative Agency, the organizations have been completely funded through its founder MayaSpoken.

As the platforms continue to grow and expand, we are seeking funding that will be distributed in the following areas.

1. Current and future Micro-grants

Currently, we have paired with Black Market Creative Agency to provide Ottawa artists and arts collectives with over 1000$ in micro-grants with priority being given to BIPOC and LGBTQ2+ artists.  We are looking to expand the funding within this grant as well as offer more grants to other individuals in need.

2. Women's Emergency Support Services (rent, mental health services, etc)

We currently run an anonymous support program where women who are victims of assault can be paired up with a partner who will accompany them to their doctors appointments, police station, etc.
We also anonymously support women in diverse emergency situations by providing women in need with a place to stay, clothes, food and other needs. It will also be used to provide women with financial assistance towards mental health services.

3. Events, Programs, and Operations

Funding in this area will help us in supporting women identifying artists and individuals in Ottawa by hiring them to participate and perform in events, high school programs, mentorship programs and more. As we look towards expanding our team, funding in this area will also be used towards creating employment opportunities for those interested.
