In Loving Memory of Louie Palumbo

Donation protected
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Louie Palumbo, a loving husband of 35 years to his wife Christine, proud father to Alexandra, Danielle, and Louis James, adoring grandfather to Cecelia, Charlotte, Colton, and Ruby, and an exceptional friend to so many. Louie was a selfless and kind-hearted man who always put the needs of others before his own. Whether he was waking up at 3 AM instead of 430AM for work so he could finish early to get to lacrosse practice on time, or taking the worst-looking burnt steak because he “likes the char”. For those unaware, which is probably most, he fought valiantly against kidney disease for several years and worked so hard to do his due diligence to eventually be blessed to receive a life-saving transplant from his daughter Danielle. Unfortunately, Louie's journey came to an abrupt halt on the day of his last doctor's appointment before the transplant was scheduled. He had worked a 12-hour shift the day before and was scheduled to work early again the next day to make it to his 4 PM appointment, despite feeling worse than any of us could even imagine. He was selfless up until his last moments, waiting too long to ask for help so as to not disturb his sleeping family when he felt ill in the late hours of the night. This is where he was selfless to a fault. That was the kind of man Louie was - he always put his family first and worked tirelessly to provide for them.

Louie's selflessness extended beyond his immediate family. He was a dedicated coach, a rescuer of every dog in need of a loving home, and a dear friend to so many. He was warm and kind and a little rough around the edges in the most admirable way you could imagine. He was the epitome of strength, leadership, and most of all— love. He was so proud of the family that he built, by blood or by love— and he always made sure that you knew just that. Even in his last moments, he continued to give selflessly, holding steadfast until organ recipients were found so that he could give the gift of life to those in need. Providing strangers with the happiest news those families will ever receive, a chance to live on through him. None of which would be possible if it weren’t for the efforts of his son Louis, who performed CPR outside their home until paramedics could provide advanced life support.

Louie's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by each and every person who was blessed to encounter his bright light. From his daily phone calls to a dozen people or a simple quick-witted comment in line at 7-11, to the expert life advice given whenever in need-whether it was how to deal with the toughest of situations or where to find the best slice of pizza nearby. Despite this, we find solace in knowing that his spirit will be carried by each and every person who he left his admirable mark on.

We are raising funds to support Louie's family during this difficult time. Any contribution you can make, big or small to help support them as Louie did will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
