Louie’s expedition to Kenya, 2025.
Donation protected
My name is Louie and I’m 13 years old. In 2025, I’m planning to go on an expedition to Kenya for 4 weeks, where I’ll be involved in many worthwhile community projects. These include various things such as installing fences to protect crop fields, caring for wildlife and building houses for local people. I am working hard to raise the money to pay for the expedition myself (It will cost £4330 in total!) and I’m very grateful for all contributions. I will provide regular updates on what I’ve been doing to fundraise and also more details on what my expedition will involve in the coming months.
Massive thanks everyone!
Updates! 30.11.23. I’ve so far done some gardening jobs for local residents and worked on a stall at 4 Christmas fairs. My running total outside of gofundme is £593.83!
This weekend (1-3 December), I’m working at 5 different Christmas fairs! Wish me luck!
Update 3.12.23
5 Christmas fairs in one weekend completed! Huge thanks to everyone who came and bought something from my stall. ❤️ Altogether, so far, with the funds raised at Christmas fairs, my gardening jobs and donations, I’ve raised just over £1,000! That’s almost one quarter of the way to raising the total amount!!
I’m so grateful to everyone who is supporting me, thank you.
Update! 20.12.23
As I enter the Christmas period, after all the Christmas fairs, selling dog treats and hot chocolates at school, gardening and a school disco fundraising event for the expedition team, I’m very happy to have a total of £1404.48 raised outside of gofundme so far! This has meant that the first instalment of the cost of the expedition has been met and I’m on my way towards meeting the second instalment later next year. In total, I need to raise £4330 so there’s still a way to go. I’ve managed to secure a job delivering leaflets for a local slimming group during Twixmas week and I’m hoping to do more leafleting in January. Going forward into 2024, I’m hoping to do more gardening and I’ll definitely be planning a sponsored event over the coming months. Watch this space! Have a fantastic Christmas everyone and thank you for all your support so far, it’s been brilliant.
15th January 2024 update from Mum!
Wow, what a great start to the new year of fundraising! The people of Tameside have responded in an unbelievable way to Louie’s fundraiser on social media; kind words, encouragement, donations and many offers of work to help Louie earn his target. We really are blown away and so proud to live in Tameside amongst such lovely people. Louie has spent his entire weekend (13/14th Jan) doing gardening jobs in Mossley. He’s also collected a stack of leaflets to distribute for Chemical Airsoft in Ashton- huge thanks to them! Other people have kindly donated on this page & also donated items for him to sell at some forthcoming table top sales. His running total (including gofundme donations and offline job earnings) is now an incredible £1726.97!! We honestly can’t thank everyone enough, we have been inundated with messages of support and offers of work for Louie… he’s pretty much filled his next few weekends and half term holiday with earning opportunities already! (With a day off next month to celebrate his birthday of course!) From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. ❤️
30.1.24 update!
Louie’s been very busy the last few weekends! Huge thanks to Terri at Slimming World, Kebabalicious, Kumon, Tameside Developments, Vanessa and Chris and MCR Dance and Cheer Academy for entrusting Louie with delivering their leaflets in return for a donation. Looking ahead into February, he has more leafleting jobs to fulfil, along with a couple of table top stalls to run. In total, on and off gofundme, his running total now stands at a fantastic £1919.26!! He’s hoping to break the £2,000 mark with his earnings next week… fingers crossed!
February 2024 update!
Louie has surpassed halfway! A massive thank you to The Maazi, Kumon and Foodaholic for entrusting him with distributing their leaflets. Also, huge thanks to everyone who bought something from him at 4C Ashton’s recent tabletop sale. We are incredibly grateful to the family and friends who donated their unwanted items for Louie to sell. ❤️ Louie celebrated his 14th birthday this month with a day off, then got straight back into the hard work delivering leaflets for 3 days during half term. He’s also been interviewed for Tameside Radio… tune in on Sunday 18th February around midday! A big thank you to Andrew Richardson for his time. Coming up in March…keep an eye out for a copy of ‘About Tameside Magazine’ or read it online at abouttameside.co.uk
Update! 3.4.24
Louie featured in About Tameside Magazine last month and his recording on the radio featured on Tameside Radio! A lovely local anonymous resident must’ve heard the show and sent a lovely little bible and a £5 donation to Louie via school!❤️ So kind of them. Another local fundraiser, Angie Wild, also heard Louie on the radio and has donated some beautiful large soft toys to use in his fundraising. He’s since done 2 tabletop sales/spring fair and given these away as ‘Name the Teddy’ prizes.
As well as the tabletop sale and Spring fair, Louie’s done some return gardening jobs, continued with his Slimming World leafleting job and done leafleting for Foodaholic for the 3rd time. Huge thanks to everyone for giving him these earning opportunities. To give something back to the local community who are supporting him so much, we also distributed a stack of leaflets for free, advertising community activities and support group sessions at the Together Centre in Dukinfield.
He’s even had a letter from Angela Rayner MP who has heard about his efforts as one of her constituents and she wanted to wish him well! Looking ahead into Spring, another 2 tabletop sales are booked in for April. We’ve also started selling donated items on Vinted which is bringing in more funds towards Kenya.
It’s going so well, the running total as of 3.4.24 is now a fantastic £3125.69!!!!
