Help the Louis Hastings Family With Their Loss
The sudden and unexpected loss of Louis “Lou” Edgar Hastings on the night of January 11, 2022, has left his wife Nancy, and two sons, Rick and Louis ll “Tootie” devastated, as well as his brother Al, sister Bobbie, granddaughter Cassidy, and numerous other family members and friends.
Lou loved spending time with his granddaughter, Cassidy, and spent hours outside playing ball with his Border Collie, “Cherokee.” He was a life-long fan of the University of Texas Longhorns, an avid baseball buff “Go Astros!!!” and loved Westerns.
Lou suddenly became ill on the afternoon of Saturday, January 8th. He was taken to a free-standing emergency room where he was seen immediately. After several hours of testing, it was determined that he was septic. Needing immediate hospitalization and with the free-standing ER unable to find an available bed in the Houston area, 911 was called. Lou was admitted to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in the early hours of Sunday, January 9th. After 24 hours and being seen by five doctors, they were still unable to diagnose with certainty the cause of his sepsis. On Tuesday, January 11th, he was transferred to IMU for a brief time, then to the ICU where he passed away within hours with his wife and sons by his side.
Lou was the primary wage earner for years after Nancy became disabled and unable to work. In addition to coping with the loss and staggering medical bills, the family must figure out the financial future.
A memorial service for Lou will be held at a later date.
This will be the only GoFundMe Page.
We are asking for donations to help defray Lou’s funeral and medical expenses only.
On behalf of the family, thank you in advance and may God bless you for your generosity.
