Louis Pinto’s Journey and Recovery

Hi, we are the Pinto Family; we are two brothers whose father sustained a severe neck and spine injury from a freak accident on an electric mountain bike. Our father underwent an emergency surgery but still has tetraplegia where he cannot maneuver his muscles below his shoulders and he also requires a ventilator to assist with his breathing as necessary.

This all occurred on July 10th, 2023 and since then he has gained limited sensation throughout his body that has come and gone but has yet to maneuver any muscles below his shoulders. He has had spasticity which started in the lower extremities and overtime he has had spasticity enabling reflexes all throughout his body. Our father has gradually weened his way down on breathing support from the ventilator and he no longer requires a feeding tube since his tracheotomy has healed and he can eat and speak. There are many positive signs that have us hopeful our amazing father will recover but there are still many uncertainties and risks.

We as a family raise this fundraiser to assist with medical bills and Louis’ long journey to recovery.
