LOUISE short film honoring unsung heroes
Donation protected
Hi there, I am Jennifer and I believe in the story my friend William Bancroft needs to tell about his mom and how it is universal and crosses time and location.
“Louise” is a true story of the sideline effects of war on a young mother unsure of her next steps after WWII. It is a tribute to not only Louise, but to the thousands of others that suffered yet endured the trials and tribulations that war has caused for families torn apart. While this story is from 1944 and World War II, it can also relate to today and the atrocities that are happening now in the Ukraine, Sudan, Gaza Strip, Syria, Afghanistan, and every other place that war continues to rage.
William Bancroft wrote the short screenplay based on the original story written by his sister, Laurie. William will direct this story about his mother, Louise, and his older sister, Bonnie. Laurie wrote the story based on the verbal recounting of those days by Louise, their mother. Bonnie had researched the plane crash that killed her father from old newspapers from the area of the crash in South Dakota. We are racing against the clock to get this story filmed so Bonnie, now eighty years old, will be able to see it. We are scheduled to film at the end of June 2023. William’s love for his family is central in much of his writing. He has several film projects in the works. His latest feature film, Vacant Lot, which he also produced, is currently in post-production.
Our goal is to raise $7,000.
The biggest struggle for filmmakers is always financing. Luckily, William has been working with a group of filmmakers, both in front of the camera and behind the camera, that believe in his passion project and are willing to work with him for no pay. BUT… he wants to give back to this community of friends and filmmakers if possible.
CAST
There is a proverb that stands out to us and we hope to bring you along to make this saying true: “Many hands make light work.” We have a cast and crew of 33 people. If each person could reach out to 10 people who would donate $10 each that would get us over halfway to our goal. You can see how a small donation by many folks really helps make the project doable.
Here are some of our estimated costs:
• Food/Craft Services - $1,000 +
• Equipment Rental - $1,500 +
• Costume Rentals/Cleaning - $500 +
• Post-Production Costs - $500 +
• Festival Fees - $500+
• Stipends for Cast and Crew - ???
