About Me
My name is Louise Hunter. I am 40 years old and a primary school teacher. I moved from the UK to Sydney where I have lived for the last 13 years. I adore living here and my friends are my biggest source of support. My whole family lives in the UK.
As mentioned, I am a teacher and my privacy is extremely important to me. I have worked hard to keep my struggles from the young children that I teach and their families. It is for that reason I ask you not to share this page via social media accounts. However, please feel free to share this with friends and family via Email or private message services.

My Story So Far.
As most of you know, I have been battling metastatic breast cancer since early 2020. This devastating diagnosis was made despite having been on a screening program for years and undergoing a preventative double mastectomy in May 2018.
After 18 gruelling chemotherapy sessions I entered remission but continued on a course of drugs to inhibit the development of cancer.
However, July 2021 delivered the heartbreaking news that the cancer had returned to my chest and lungs and lesions had been found on my brain. Since then, I have received different types of brain radiotherapy and several chemotherapy drugs with varying rates of success. This month, June 2022 more brain lesions have developed.
The Next Stage
Part of the difficulty with treatment is that the chemotherapy that has had some success on my chest and lungs does not work in my brain and vice versa. In an attempt to stem the growth of lesions in my brain I have been given the opportunity to receive the Gamma Knife radiotherapy at Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney.

I have my heart set on receiving this treatment as brain lesions are not easy to treat. There is no guarantee of success but Gamma Knife is one of the best out there and will give me a real fighting chance at life.
The out of pocket cost of the treatment and related expenses is approximately $10,000 so I am seeking to raise this amount to fund this life saving treatment.
I am reaching out to you personally, to see if any of you are able to help with the financial burden that this horrific disease brings. No matter how big or small, I would welcome any help from you with the greatest of appreciation. A lifetime of saying ‘thank you’ would never be enough. It would make such a huge difference in paying for my treatment and to the stress that having unpaid time off work brings.
Wishing you all good health and happiness. Thank you for taking the time to read my page and for your ongoing support.
