My story✨
Being diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder at 18 honestly felt like a relief… until it didn’t. I was always aware that my emotions & behaviours were different to those around me & when I was diagnosed I felt like someone actually understood me. However, I quickly realised that the stigma around “borderline personality disorder” was very negative & found myself warning people that I had this diagnosis. In 2022 I was admitted into hospital in Northern Ireland, both Londonderry/Derry & Omagh & was told by doctors that the only option I had that would help is to get DBT which funny enough is not available in Northern Ireland
Thankfully my time in hospital was not all bad because I met beautiful people who were also fighting to stay alive everyday❤️ if I had not met these people - I wouldn’t be here today
How I heard about Katie’s SHINE Project
While being in & out of hospital, I found “Katie’s SHINE Project”✨ I can’t even begin to explain the amazing work Katie’s mum is doing & being able to give something back to this charity is unbelievable
