Louisville School Supply Drive

For the past two years, I've collected money to purchase school supplies for different organizations and communities in Louisville. It began small; in 2017, I collected almost $700 and purchased enough materials to supply an entire classroom. In 2018, donations totaled almost $1,300 and 112 backpacks were collected and stuffed with supplies for the school year; Educational Justice also tabled at the local drive in Shively, providing information about free tutoring for students with a demonstrated financial need. Donations have contributed to numerous Louisville organizations, including La Casita Center, Family Scholar House, Kentucky Refugee Ministries, Americana Community Center, and the Center for Women and Families. I will continue in 2019 to donate to La Casita Center and organize a hopefully larger supply drive in Shively.
