Louw Family Emergency Medical Bills Fundraiser

On August 16th, Liza received several unusual alerts on her smartwatch about her heart rate and wisely decided to have it checked out at an urgent care center. Unfortunately, what started as a careful investigation swiftly became a crisis as she was rushed to the emergency room with stage 3 congestive heart failure. After a terrifying 96 hours, Liza was stable enough to be discharged. Still, as is too familiar a story in the United States, the family would go home with an overwhelming amount of medical debt. Out-of-pocket expenses and an intensive regimen of medications have left their family with major practical obstacles as Liza begins a difficult road to recovery. Though the prognosis is hopeful, it goes without saying that their family is under a great deal of stress after such an unexpected tragedy.
Liza and her family have been integral to Pecking House’s journey. Their stalwart Dodge Caravan served as the flagship of our fried chicken fleet as they helped us deliver food during the pandemic. They had helped us manage the chaos of pop-ups at Essex Market and helped create top-notch hospitality when we took residence at Rosalu diner. Simply put, we wouldn’t be where we are without them. And they have been lovely and caring and wonderful at every step of the way as coworkers and friends.
Please consider helping them with this all-too-familiar crisis that families have to deal with in this country. Please consider supporting them with the unfair consequences of needing to save your loved ones in this country. We hope to raise $30,000 to cover the out-of-pocket hospitalization bills and a year of medications. Please know that even a dollar would be helpful.
