On July 12, 2018 Dolores ‘Del’ Carpenter, known by many in her single days as Doris Borja, suffered a severe hemorrhaging seizure/stroke and was admitted into the ICU of Spring Valley Hospital in Las Vegas. She successfully came out of an induced coma but with substantial paralyzing damage to her right side limbs and her speech/word comprehension. Right now she is fighting to recover those faculties and has already been in the hospital for 57 days. She will be in acute/skilled care for another 100+ days at Las Ventanas in Las Vegas.
Del has always been a strong and giving person. She was the president of the Siena Sunshine Club for three years, has been a member of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors for 22 years, a passionate member of the Guam Ladies Club of Las Vegas for many years, a staunch supporter/member of the Women's Business Network of Las Vegas, was heavily involved with the LeTip, Vegas Chapter, holding a presidential position, and assisting with her alma mater's reunions and various gatherings.
She has always been heavily involved in her communities… from her days at Tamuning Elementary and JFK High Schools in Guam to her 12 year career with TWA starting in Guam in 1970 and then transferring to San Francisco until 1982. In 1994 she and her husband, Jon, moved to Las Vegas and in 1996 she pursued a career in real estate, beginning with Prudential Americana (now Berkshire Hathaway) and Re/Max…and the last 15 years with Deluxe Properties. Due to the seriousness of her stroke, it has to be determined whether she will be able to return to her career in real estate, which she loves doing. That will be evaluated by her neurologist in the new year after she completes her 12 month recovery program.
Her medical costs and equipment towards recovery will be enormous because of her severe medical condition and are not fully covered by her Medicare insurance. So, we have started a GoFundMe campaign and are reaching out to friends, associates and the real estate industry family, to ask for their support in helping her receive the necessary attention and therapy for the best possible recovery. Our goal is $85,000. And, please pass this to your family and friends and anyone who may want to contribute. Thank you deeply for your generous support.
