Dear Friends,

As many of you know, Laurie Hannan has an enormous medical hurdle ahead of her to regain the use of her leg.  June 7th, 2020 is the day that forever changed Laurie’s life.  Laurie and her husband, Brad took their daughter, Taylor to Pickaway County Fairgrounds for the second weekend of showing pigs for the OH Pigs- Summer Show Circuit.  They enjoyed a great weekend of showing and completed a 3 1/2 hour drive home.  While unloading from the weekend, Laurie was involved in a freak ATV accident and was transported to the local emergency room.   She was immediately transferred to the nearest trauma hospital. The next few weeks were a blur.  Laurie underwent 4 extensive surgeries to rebuild the lower half of her leg, skin grafts and surgery to stabilize the multiple fractures to her ankle. She required 12 visits to hyperbaric chamber for oxygen treatments to try to keep the tissue in her leg alive.  After two long weeks in the hospital, Laurie was sent home with an external halo fixture.

This external fixture consists of 4 large stainless steel rings and 37 wires and pins attached from the rings to the bone in her leg to hold everything in place while healing.  Laurie will be required to wear this apparatus for 6-9 months all in an attempt to try to save her leg.   She has a long, painful road ahead of her!   She has already had one bout of infection and she deals with extreme pain every minute of every day.   Laurie has been taken away from a very active life of pig showing, a successful career and getting their daughter ready to go to college to a life of physical therapy and home health care with 100% of her focus on getting back the use of her leg. Laurie’s leg is going to require more surgeries and she is facing another year of PT after the removal of the apparatus. She has a long road to recovery and this has all been extremely taxing on them financially.

I am asking you to please help this amazing family in any way possible during this absolutely terrible time in their lives so they can focus on trying to get Laurie back up on both legs and having fun once again.
