LAHF addresses the gap between low income and affordable housing.

Working with: Grandmas, Grandpas, Moms, Dads, Brothers, and Sisters that need your help... out of no fault of their own.  With our ageing population receiving a small  SS check each month, loss of jobs, post Covid and rents at an all time high, the need is greater than it has ever been.

Here are a few of their stories:

Harriet, after living in the same place for 20 years, was given an eviction notice and 30 days to vacate because the owners want to remodel the building and double the rent. Harriet is 58, a quadriplegic with cerebral palsy, requires a full-time caretaker.  She receives $1040
monthly from Social Security.  We are trying to help her stay independent and we are looking to subsidize her rent and expenses so she can continue to live with dignity. Annual need $6,000, $500.00 monthly need.

Char, after living in the same place for 23 years, must find a new place to live. Her home was subsidized by Section 8, but the house failed
the annual inspection and the owner decided to level the house and sell the land for profit.  Char is 68, receives $880 monthly from Social
Security.  While we are looking for an owner willing to rent to a Section 8 recipient, it is like searching for a needle in a haystack and the
wait list is lengthy. Annual need $6,000.00, $500.00 monthly need.

Berta, spent 6 weeks recovering from an illness and thanks to COVID 19 she had a deferment on her mortgage.  However, Berta lost her
job when the store she worked at closed (COVID) and she has been living off of her credit cards. Berta is 71, having a hard time finding a
new job and unemployment is running out. Selling her house with $20K equity is an option, but now rental payments are at an all-time
high.  We  are looking to help subsidize her mortgage payment and keep her in her home.  Annual need $1,200.00, $100.00 monthly need.

Pat sold his business so that he could retire and spend time with his wife who has health issues.  Unfortunately, he was scammed in the
sale.  A $50,000 retainer was required to hire legal counsel to help him recover the money he lost.  Pat is 83 and now has no retirement
AND no money. A reverse mortgage is an option, but it is likely his wife will outlive the funds and then what would they do?  We are looking to help subsidize their mortgage payment and keep them in their own home.  Annual need $6,000.00, $500.00 monthly need.

A 66-year-old cashier Joan, at a grocery store was hit by a drunk driver, totaling her car. After spending 10 days in the hospital, she now gets injections in her neck to help with the severe pain from pinched nerves. As a widow and sole provider, she faces termination if she takes
any more days off.  She is not able to survive on Social Security income. Where can she go? What will she do when she no longer can work? Annual need $4,800.00, $400.00 monthly need.

Your donation will help these people to live with dignity and give them the ability to be on their feet again. Providing stability, opportunity, and hope to families in poverty. We are trying to make life better for these people - these human beings who have had a hard time this year. Your gift, will make it possible to show the love, give a safety net, and help these people live life well. Thank you for partnering with us to
secure housing for these lovely people.
