Imagine, for 2 years, fighting an infection, going from doctor to doctor with all of them pushing you off to a different “specialist”, offering no relief from the growing wound, the pain, the swelling in your hand so bad it leaves your entire arm useless, or the major frustration of no one taking control of the situation and actually doing something to stop it.
Now imagine you go to a plastic surgeon expecting the same run-around, but he checks you into the hospital right then & there. You spend a week scared and all alone (because of Covid restrictions) on IV antibiotics only to be told your elbow bone is completely dead from the infection that has been festering in your body while all these other doctors had just wrapped you in gauze & told you to see someone else and your arm now needs to be amputated or the infection would ravage your entire body killing everything in it’s wake and of course, you.
That, is the story of my oldest daughter, saved last week by an amazing team of doctors and nurses at Johns Hopkins… finally.
She is a beautiful, free-spirited, loving & giving young woman who is dealing with this with an amazing attitude and strength I can only be in awe of.
She has a long road ahead of her with recovery from surgery, beginning occupational therapy, acquiring a prosthetic, and learning to live life in a new way.
I began this campaign for her to help with whatever extra expenses she’ll be incurring from this as she’ll be unable to work for awhile and her online store brings in a minimal amount.
Having money set aside this way will also help her feel a little more independent, supported and loved, all of which are things she needs right now!
