Words from Caleb Reese:
I wanted to share with you an update on my life and what’s been happening in my journey. The past two weeks have been a rollercoaster ride and though there’s still a long way to go, I’ve experienced so much love, care, and support that I feel deeply blessed
First, I want to thank everyone—friends, family, my school family, nurses, EMS , medical teams, our wonderful Arbor Place neighborhood family, and, most of all, my amazing wife. I am forever grateful to each of you, and especially to God and Jesus Christ for their unconditional love and guidance.
On Saturday, December 14, I was working out. By what I can only describe as divine timing, a workout buddy happened to show up at the same time. While warming up on the bench press, I felt strong and ready. But in a freak accident, a 10-pound weight detached from the rack, fell about four feet, and hit my forehead.
The impact knocked me out instantly, and I collapsed into my buddy’s arms . (I’m so thankful he was there!) I don’t remember much after that, but I later woke up in the back of an ambulance to the sound of David Judd, the fire chief . He told me how close I was to being intubated and airlifted to a trauma center.
The EMS team acted quickly and scanned my brain while the emergency doctor stitched me up. That’s when we received some unexpected and life-changing news: the scan revealed a tennis ball-sized tumor in my brain. I had no symptoms before, and this scan may have saved my life.
The following days were tough, but with prayers , family , and support, I’ve kept moving forward. Sleep has been challenging but essential. I’ve also experienced some setbacks, including minor seizures, which have been scary for my family and me. Balancing medications has been a process, and I’m still waiting on biopsy results for the tumor. Please keep praying for me and my family—we trust that God is in control.
This experience, though difficult, has opened my heart to new perspectives. I know Jesus is real, and whatever His plan is, I will follow it with faith and gratitude.
I’m dedicating myself to healing and walking the path God has laid out for me.
God continues to show me compassion and new perspectives every day. Though life has its hills and valleys, I’m learning to focus on eternity.
At Algood School, we remind each other daily that we are loved and have a purpose. And like I tell my student teachers: Don’t forget to let your light shine.
Time is the most valuable gift , and I encourage you to cherish it. Hug and love those around you.
I feel the power of your prayers in a whole new way. Thank you for everything, from the bottom of my heart .
Update
Great news! Just saw Dr. Abrams, the neurosurgeon, and we really liked him! He can do surgery next Wednesday using high-tech MRI guidance to safely get as much as possible. If there’s anything left, we’ll be ready for radiation and a chemo pill. Sending positive vibes and staying hopeful!
With love and peace ✌️,
Mr. “Tricky” Reese
Update on 1/14/25- Big Surgery Day Tomorrow!
Hey, family and friends! Tomorrow morning around 8:00 AM at St. Thomas, I’ll be in the incredible hands of Dr. Abrams for this next step in life’s journey. ✨
We are SO beyond blessed by the outpouring of love you’ve shown us. ❤️ Whether it’s been cards, meals, gifts, quality time, donations, or just a kind word—YOU have made all the difference!
But most importantly, your PRAYERS have carried us. I’ve been on my knees, pouring out gratitude and faith, trusting God through every step. He is the way, forgiveness sets us free, and LOVE is always the answer!
We love you ALL—our community, schools, families, and friends! WE ARE ONE. WE ARE LOVE. Thank you for walking this journey with us.
⏰ If you feel led, please set a timer and say a prayer with us at 7:30 AM tomorrow morning. Let’s join our hearts in faith for a successful surgery, healing, and a beautiful road ahead filled with peace and miracles.
A prayer to lift up:
“Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your love, peace, and presence in this moment. We pray for Your hands to guide Dr. Abrams and all the medical staff tomorrow. Let Your healing power surround and protect us, bringing peace and restoration. Bless this journey, and may Your will be done. In faith and love, we trust You completely. Amen.” ✨
We will keep you updated every step of the way. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!
One of my favorite songs that reminds me to slow down and enjoy life goes like this:
Lord we thank You for sunshine ☀️
Lord we thank You for rain ️
Lord we thank You for joy
Lord we thank You for pain
☀️It’s a beautiful day!☀️
