Love and Support for Brittney's Recovery

Heyy everyone, my name is Rachael, and I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of Brittney Graham. For those unaware, Brittney went in to have a general outpatient procedure on August 8th at St. Vincent's hospital in Riverside, Jacksonville, FL. During the surgery, the doctor accidentally punctured Brittney's abdomen aorta, which caused her to have instant blood clots during the surgery that the doctor was not immediately aware of. Toward the end of the surgery, it became apparent that something was significantly wrong. The doctor and nurses say that Brittney literally woke up during surgery, pulled the breathing tube out of her throat and yelled, "My legs hurt," and then passed out. The nurses said they had never had that happen before! Upon investigation, the medical team realized what had happened and had to slit Brittney's legs open to get the clots out so she would not die! From there, Brittney's health declined. After the medical team opened her legs to remove the clots, they found their original error of her punctured aorta. Brittney was instantly intubated and officially became the SICKEST person in the hospital for two straight weeks. She had kidney failure and more blood clots; she couldn't breathe on her own, she couldn't talk, and she couldn't walk... they had her in a medically induced coma for the first two and half weeks of being there. When the doctor decided to bring Brittney out of the coma, she was forced to depend on a breathing and feeding tube for an additional three weeks after the coma. The four large openings on her legs were forced to remain open as she has developed compartment syndrome, which makes her muscles swell to where she would have lost her legs if they didn't stay open. After conquering several emergency dialysis treatments and learning to breathe on her own again, she was sent to Brooks rehab. Once Brittney got to Brooks rehab, she was there for one day when they found she had a severe bacterial infection and had to be moved back to the hospital ICU for intensive treatment. She was back at the hospital another week, fighting extremely high fevers and other infectious complications. At the time of her beating that infection she was approved to have her trach taken out and has had to go through speech therapy to learn to talk again! Once the infection was gone and the trach was taken out, the hospital transferred her back to Brooks. She was there for two weeks when Brooks told her that her insurance would not cover any more care at their facility and she would need to begin at home care! Brittney still has four large wounds in her legs; she cannot walk or move her feet. She goes back and forth to treatment, hoping to get approved to have her wounds closed and eventually learn to walk again.
Ya'll trust me, I know this is a lot to hear, but my friend needs some help. If you genuinely know Brittney, she will never ask anyone for anything. I had to convince her to allow us to create this on her behalf. Brittney has been out of work since August; she has two amazing young boys to care for; her mortgage, car note, and medical bills are crazy now; on top of everything else she will need in the coming days, she needs us to stand up for her now. For the girl who has been there for all of us, it's our time to help her now. Britt has a long road to recovery. We fully intend to help her fight physically and financially. The lawyers we have reached out to have required us to wait until she has no more procedures needed at the hospital before they will take her case, as they do not want to cause more issues for her there. Any lawsuit she may eventually be entitled to will take years to see success, if any. Anything you can donate for her, I promise she will be so touched and thankful. Please understand that she may not be able to reach back out to each person contacting her after reading this right away. Brittney is on the mend but nowhere near back to even 60%. We love Britt and her boys so much; we know she has touched many lives. Please touch her life now.
