Love and Support for the Jennings Family

For those of you who know the Jennings Family, you will agree that they are wonderful and extraordinary people. They are kind, giving and, not to mention, a lot of fun! Unfortunately, bad things still happen to good people. A couple of weeks ago, Eric was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. To say we were all shocked and devastated is an understatement. How can this strong, healthy, easy-going man have this awful illness? It seems ridiculous, but sadly, it is true. Over the next week, Eric will start a clinical trial quickly followed by chemo. Pancreatic cancer is a recalcitrant cancer that is currently incurable. However, the Jennings family is choosing persistence not perfection and keeping hope alive. Treatments can help extend and enhance Eric’s life giving them the chance to make memories, strive for joy, and savor this life, as imperfect as it may be.

Accepting help from others does not come easy to most of us, and Eric and Kristin are no exception. They may not love the idea of receiving assistance from others but I’m the bossy sister and I don’t listen well. I want them to live life to the fullest while worrying as little as possible about necessary things like meal planning, housework, and medical expenses. I want their time to be spent as a family making memories instead of doing time-consuming tasks. I know many of you feel the same way. They have received many acts of kindness and offers to help in whatever way possible from so many of you already.
