I’m writing this today with a heavy heart on behalf of my 51-year-old son, Wayne Scroggins (Peanut). Wayne is a beloved son, brother, husband, and father to four incredible young men. He is a behavior specialist and a longtime employee of the Minneapolis School District. This news may come as a surprise to many of you. Wayne is private and hasn’t shared much about his medical struggles. Thirteen years ago, Wayne was diagnosed with heart failure after having a severe cold that attacked his heart muscles. Now his weak heart has led to issues with his liver and both kidneys. After a recent extended hospital stay at the Mayo Hospital, we now know Wayne needs a heart, liver, and possibly a kidney transplant.

Wayne’s road to transplant and recovery will not be easy or cheap. We’re setting up this GoFundMe account to help lessen the financial burden for Wayne and his family. Your gift will help cover additional medical costs, the high cost of medication, expenses incurred during his extended time off work, and his move to Rochester, which is required after his transplant.
