Rest in Peace to our beloved father Xeng Lee
1949-2022
On Saturday 1/22/22, our family received an unexpected phone call from the hospital stating our father had a code blue and for us to start making our way in to say our goodbyes. What should have been a quick hospital stay for an infection turned into him never making his way home back to us. We are incredibly heartbroken and dumbfounded at this turn of events.
Our father, Xeng, was born in 1949 in Laos. At the age of 15, he was recruited by the CIA as a child soldier and joined The Secret War to prevent the threat of communism from spreading in Southeast Asia. He fought bravely alongside other Hmong soldiers with very little training and helped rescue wounded US soldiers. At the end of the war, he was given the opportunity to start a new life in the US with his family. After turning it down several times for fear of leaving his mother behind, he decided to take a leap of faith. In 1981 he flew across the world to settle in Minnesota with his young wife and five children so that they (and future generations) would have a better life.
Our father was not only a brave and selfless man, but he was also a skilled man who spoke 3 languages: Hmong, Thai, and English. He also had a knack for building and fixing things that needed extra TLC. A man who loved the outdoors and hunting with family/friends. A man who enjoyed family gatherings and having feasts (especially when it involved pork)! Our loving, strong, and kind father.... we will miss you forever!
Donations would be greatly appreciated and welcomed to help cover the costs of his funeral and burial.
