Many of you reading this already know Michelle Devon. If you don’t know her, you’re missing out. She’s an incredibly loving, caring individual who has touched hundreds of lives with her compassion and genuine desire to do good in this world.
Most of you know Michy lives with terminal illnesses. The biggies are CTEPH (Chronic Thrombo Embolic Pulmonary Hypertension) and CHF (Congestive Heart Failure), but she has a laundry list of co-diagnoses and their symptoms to contend with as well. She starts each day with more pills and medications than most of us will take in a lifetime, but she’s a master at finding and utilizing resources to assist her with obtaining the litany of services and medications she needs to survive. She’s also always been willing to share what she knows to help others fighting similar battles. I won’t outline all of her struggles in this GFM, but you can read more about what Michy goes through on a daily basis here: http://dyingtolive.michelleldevon.com/
A lot of people have, at different points along the way, asked how they can help. Michy needs our help now, so I’m reaching out to you to ask on her behalf. While she always has medical needs, some of the most pressing right now are:
*Dental care from an oral surgeon. Michy has heart valve surgery coming up as soon as November 6th - possibly even sooner - but dental clearance is critical. Her oxygen needs limit her facility choices, and she has to have her oral health issues attended to before the surgery. This is critical, especially for heart patients.
*The van used to transport Michy needs repairs to the lifts she uses to get in and out and to the steering pulleys. Michy’s physical aches and pains and current oxygen demands make it incredibly difficult for her to get in and out of a conventional vehicle on her own.
*We would like to fundraise to help Michy install a whole-house generator. Her oxygen needs are 24/7 and there is only so much you can do with spare tanks when the power goes out, especially if she is running low before a delivery or has been out at appointments and has used her supply. The generator would also support her in-home cooling needs in the event of a power outage, as staying comfortable also helps her to breathe better. A generator would also keep her food, medications, and access to communication tools available to her.
We’re setting the goal on this campaign pretty high. Whether we reach the goal or not, please know that every penny raised will be received with extreme gratitude and will go towards Michy’s ongoing medical needs, prioritized however she, Lynn, and the rest of the family see fit based on her needs at the time.
Michy is always there for all of us in any way she possibly can be. Now she needs our help. Please consider donating, if you can; and please share. We appreciate everyone’s love and support. Thank you! <3
