Love for Christine Herring and Family

Most of you know that Christine was originally diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer back in the fall of 2014. That began a year long battle of surgery, chemo, cancer in her liver, more surgery and more chemo. By the grace of God, Christine beat it and had been cancer free.

This summer, she began having migraines and other symptoms. While en route to their annual family beach trip, Christine suffered what they thought was a stroke in the car. They immediately went to a nearby hospital and after some tests, it was determined that she had some brain tumors and doctors urged her to return home.

Shortly after returning home, she had brain surgery to try and remove the tumors. At this time, it was determined that the colon cancer had spread to her brain, lung and pancreas. She has been on radiation and a treatment plan since July.

The cancer is now pretty quickly progressing. In spite of the surgery and radiation, there are signs of tumor regrowth in her brain, as well as the mass in her lung. Surgery is no longer an option, so she will start aggressive chemo immediately. At the same time, the brain tumors will not respond to chemo, so that has to be acknowledged as well.

Christine will start chemo on October 4. She will have infusions in the office every two weeks and then wear the fanny pack pump of chemo for two more days each round.

She is being placed on palliative care and will be on chemo for 3 months before having new scans to see if it is helping.

During this difficult time, she remains hopeful and is making a little bucket list of things she wants to do with her family. She and her family need the gift of time.

They have medical insurance but still have a deductible to meet and bills have already been rolling in from brain surgery. Alex has exhausted all of his leave from work until the new year. This fund is here to help ease the financial strain, with the insurance deductible, co-pays, the time Alex has already been off of work without pay, help with any time off of work in the near future for Christine's chemo treatments and for some happy bucket list fun for them. This way it's easier for them to be together as a family while Christine needs it the most.

I'm Bobbi, Christine's sister, and to know her is to know the most selfless, loving and giving person. She's a wife, mother, gigi (grandma), aunt, sister, daughter, friend, animal lover/rescuer and so much more. I know my big sis will fight with everything she has.

Please pray for her body to take this chemo like a boss and give her more time and pray for healing.

We are grateful for the prayers, meals and support. Christine is truly so deserving.
