Love for Jamie Crum's Heart

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Beverly Watson and I am setting up this page so that all the friends, colleagues and family can reach out to Jamie and Loretta to help during this critical time in their lives.

As many of you already know, Jamie is 52 years old with a history of heart problems and recently suffered heart failure after a heart attack on July 2nd. On July 2nd, doctors were able to put a stent in an 80% blockage. Jamie was able to go home on Monday evening. In early hours of Wednesday, July 5th, Jamie once again returned to the hospital with extreme chest pain experiencing another heart attack. At this time, Jamie had a 2nd heart cath where he received a temporary pacemaker and temporary heart pump. At this time doctors determined he had fluid in his lungs so he was intubated and transferred to Baptist East in Memphis under the care of Dr. Yaranov In Corinth, doctors informed Loretta that Jamie had a 20% Ejection fraction rate. A low EF diagnosis refers to Advanced Heart Failure.

Upon arriving at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, doctors evaluated Jamie and said his ejection fraction was closer to 10% and they would upgrade to an Impella 5.5 heart pump. On Friday, July 6th this procedure was performed. After the procedure, Doctors were able to remove the external pacemaker and ventilator. Jamie was then able to sit up in bed/a chair and appeared to be improving.

Once again fluid began to build up on Jamie's body and doctors ordered a session of dialysis to remove the fluid due to the kidney function being very low.
At this point, Jamie was moved to the heart transplant unit. Because the heart was so weak, the kidneys continued to show signs of failure. Hoping this is a temporary failure and they will rebound. Due to the fluid building up and making it difficult to breathe, doctors ordered dialysis.

On Friday, Jamie required dialysis again. Doctors said they would do dialysis again on Saturday and then watch to see if kidney function rebounds. At this point, we are praying his kidneys improve so he can have the LVAD surgery. LVAD will be a permanent heart pump that he will receive during open heart surgery. After he heals 3-6 months, Jamie will be moved back up on the heart transplant list. He has to heal from this surgery before he can receive new heart.

Jamie and I are cousins, yet Jamie and Loretta are family to our family. We love them dearly and want to help in some way. Several people have reached out saying how can we help. At this point, only immediate family can visit. If you are like me, worrying about work and bills is something we all do. Let's support this sweet family by helping them to focus on Jamie's healing and returning home to his family. They have a long road ahead but with prayers, support and love we can help.

Loretta will be the person withdrawing any funds given. Thank You.
