Update: On August 12th, 2024, our loving Leslie gained her wings and reunited with her son Will in heaven. Her journey was filled with love, compassion, and an abundance of community. If you know Leslie, you know what love means. Love for family, love for friends, love for strangers, and everyone in between. It is not often that you find a person with a soul like Leslie's. A soul so deep and warm, that you immediately feel like you have found a reason to this life when meeting her.
Leslie is the walking definition of a outstanding human. She is a loving mother, wonderful daughter, caring sister, extraordinary friend, fantastic school counselor, Pure Barre enthusiast, and so much more.
This past week, Leslie went in for an endoscopy procedure to identify some pain that she was having in her stomach and back. Unfortunately, the root cause of the pain that she has been enduring for the last months was more in depth than realized. Due to the assertiveness of her caring physician to dig further, she underwent a CT scan. On Wednesday, May 31st 2023, Leslie recieved a devastating diagnosis: Pancreatic cancer - a large mass on her pancreas, that has spread to her lymph nodes and blood vessels. The start to her fight. This diagnosis does not even seem tangible, as she has operated her lifestyle with wellness as a priority. As you can imagine, Leslie is trying to grasp the reality of this very serious finding.
The fight will be a difficult one, but one that Leslie and her team will take on full force. Full of hope, prayers, helping hands, encouragement, and all things LESLIE! In the coming week, she will undergo diagnostic testing to determine the biology of the cancer. This information will be the compass that will be needed to create the most powerful treatment plan to attack her cancer cells. All of this will be done with the best care team who are reknown experts in Pancreatic Cancer treatment. The message already being received is that the treatment will be challenging and all consuming to kill these cancer cells.
The funds from here will go directly towards taking care of medical expenses that have already begun. Your donations are deeply appreciated, as it lessens the stress that she will have to endure during this time. We all want the main focus for Leslie to be staying healthy. Unfortunatly, due to the severity of this cancer diagnois, she will not be able to work. She will need to commit to being a full-time patient to combat this already invasive disease.
This type of diagnosis will need swift and challenging treatment, so your support will be such a blessing along the way. We also know that her late son, Will, will be her angel in heaven, guiding and protecting her through this fight. That is why we have titled this mission - WILL to Win!
