Love for Mandi and Her Boys

Dear friends, family, and community:

Our beloved Mandi was in a terrible accident on Sunday evening, December 19th. We are not entirely sure what caused the accident, and likely will never get all the answers we'd like to have. What we do know is she was driving to town, less than a minute from her house and something caused her to go off of the road. While Mandi was always diligent about putting her seat belt on, this happened so close to home that for whatever reason she hadn't gotten it on yet. When her car went in to the ditch, somehow her body was ejected from the vehicle. Mandi suffered severe head trauma as well as bodily injuries. Because she was on her road that is less traveled, she was not found for 30 minutes. Once the call was made, the first responders arrived to the scene and quickly got her to St. Anthony's hospital in Lakewood. She was taken in to surgery right away to address her brain injury, as well as a secondary surgery for a laceration and damage to her kidney and spleen. A piece of her skull was removed to accommodate the swelling in her brain and they have been draining blood from her head. She is currently in a coma, on a ventilator, and is not responsive. As of right now we are waiting and spending as much time as a family together as possible. While we know how much our precious Mandi is loved and adored by so many of you who have been touched by her in so many different ways, we ask for your patience and understanding as we take the space we need to navigate this very difficult time. Her two boys, Levi and Noah have only been told as much as we feel is appropriate for their age and the circumstances at this time, so we ask for your support as our community to shield and protect their ears and hearts from harmful speculation or rumors as well as inappropriate fact-sharing. All donations will be put toward covering family expenses and medical bills, with any excess going to a trust for Levi and Noah.
