Love for Odelia: Funeral Memorial Expenses
Donation protected
As you may be aware, the much loved Odelia Ignacio was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024. However, there may have been many that had not known because she chose to push along with a smile on her face while going through many cycles of chemotherapy 3 times per week at 3 week intervals. Her last session was in early September right before visiting her daughter Rachel and family in Seattle. She sat shotgun while the pregnant Rach drove them from Seattle to Sacramento in the new car they got for Del.
Always living her best life.
On October 13, she suffered a cardiac arrest with heart attack and miraculously the next day was seemingly doing better than any of the clinical staff at Mercy San Juan thought that she would. A true unicorn, as Amia exclaimed when we got the call from the nurse that she had woke up from her unconsciousness later that Sunday night. She was then discharged to a SNF for 3 weeks before being transported to Sutter Roseville due to worsening symptoms caused by her cancer spreading to her brain.
With love, support and prayers from family and friends as well as all the visits and voices that filled her rooms, I hope her final days showed her how loved she was and will always be loved. Boobob passed on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
What happened was something we had hoped wouldn’t come for a long while as she was doing so well with her cancer treatment. She was planning on going back to work in December and visiting her son Matthew and family in Sweden for the holidays as long as she was cleared by her oncologist.
Because of the circumstances and how easily the funeral expenses can quickly add up, we’ve created this GoFundMe account to help with any funeral/memorial expenses and unforeseen medical expenses. If you wondered or asked how you could help, I hope this is an easy way to contribute.
Odelia/OD/Dilla/Del/Boobob/Boo/Ma/Sister/Aunty/Inang touched so many lives and it showed these last few weeks in full force. I hope that your memories of her stay strong and her bright spirit consoles you when you’re missing her. It's ok to miss her, to cry for her, to be mad but please also remember to be happy that you had her in your life. Be comforted with the feeling that you’ll be with her again…when you watch a Niner Game, hear laughter, see a unicorn or get a pink manicure!
