Love for the Kencke Family
Donation protected
On Friday evening, the Kencke family were involved in a head-on car collision near Leggett, on their way home from a Disneyland vacation.
For more information on the accident, you can read the Lost Coast Outpost article:
Joe Kencke and his oldest and youngest daughters were able to walk away from the accident with just a few bruises. Rebekah Kencke was taken to Garberville and thankfully only had minor injuries and bruises, including a broken toe. Their 15 year old daughter Brooke was flown to Mercy Hospital in Redding for a blood transfusion before being redirected to UC Davis. Brooke has down syndrome and only has one hand. She unfortunately has had too many hospital stays in her short life. August 14th they had her first surgery to clean the wound and put in temporary stablers for her right leg. As I write this, Brooke is in an extensive surgery to put in the hardware to rebuild her leg. This will be followed by skin grafting and pretty intensive physical therapy.
As you can imagine, the emotional, mental, and physical tolls happening to each family member are extensive. The last thing that we want them to worry about is finances. They are currently paying for a hotel because it's the closest place to stay that makes it easy for Rebekah to get there and the closest place to where Brooke is. There will be many costs associated to the next step in Brooke's recovery. Joe and Rebekah have been blessed in so many ways from people they know and do not know- thank you for the love and prayers.
