Love for the Lewis’

Many of you will know the Lewis family’s story, but for those who don’t, here are some powerful words from Shannon, Jack’s beautiful wife:
Last year in June Jack was diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal spine and brain cancer. The next few months were the scariest and hardest moments we’ve ever had to face. Seeing your loved one so sick and being told multiple times to prepare myself to say goodbye was soul destroying. Jack defied the odds so many times, coming out of a coma and then going through intense treatments to give him time with his family was so hard to watch.
Then in September being told he only had weeks to live and nothing more could be done, you feel so alone and the world you once dreamed of as a family vanishes.
Having two little kids see their Daddy fade away is something no one should have to go through, It’s just so cruel and heartbreaking.
Jack amazed his doctors once again when he became stronger and made it past the prognosis he was given. He was fighting as he wasn’t going to give up.
In March after another routine MRI showed that jacks tumours had shrunk and he was now in remission. It was a miracle!! To feel like we could breathe again and have some much needed family time was the best thing to ever happen for us, es after the nightmare we had been living.
It was short lived though, the dark cloud that looms over you when someone is living with Cancer is unforgiving - the Drs visits don’t end, the anxiety you now live with everyday, the constant watching out for symptoms that you hope don’t show up, but unfortunately they did.
A recent scan showed that the tumour in Jacks spine has grown back and is quite aggressive. So back to more hospital visits and a gruelling radiation treatment to stop it from spreading.
The future plans you may once had get thrown out the window as you start living day by day. It’s extremely exhausting and isolating!
Jack is a fighter and will give everything he has to be here for his family. We know how precious time is and that’s all we want. Time
Jack having been the provider for our family and having lose that has been so difficult, to being once comfortable in life to now living week to week trying to support your family is not easy. We are so grateful that Vita has wanted to do this gofund me for our family. We struggle with people offering help, as we’ve always wanted to be the ones helping others, so being on the receiving end is hard for us. Just know we are so thankful for everyone who has helped us this far, and are so blessed that the community want to help us again. From the bottom of our hearts we just want to say thank you.
This fundraiser was set up by Shannon’s employer, Dolce Vita Skin. All funds will be transferred directly to Shannon and Jack Lewis to be used for his medical bills and supporting their two young children. We thank everyone for their donations.
