UPDATE:
Our beautiful mother, and loving wife has past away this morning. She has joined many loved ones who have left us long ago.
We love you so much mom. You leave us with a light and a positive onward journey ahead. We already miss you and our hearts are broken.
We can’t wait to see you again... but until then we will continue to make you proud.
Your loving husband, Tom and your three kids, Emily, Sarah & Clayton.
Do you ever ask yourself "Why me? Maybe you ask whomever you believe in from above Why them? Take me instead, please take away their pain,” well our family has been saying this for years.
Hello everyone, for those of you who know our family I'm sure you have heard the ill-fated luck that my parents have lived through. Now, being adults, we can truly understand that not everything just ”gets better" sometimes the fire burns low... and sometimes you can't relight it.
Carolann Rotella Yates was born in the year 1957. She is a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and a really good friend to whomever has been lucky enough to be in her presence. She is by far the kindest soul and only wants the best for anyone. As a family I really don't think we ever heard her use a swear word :)
Back in 2013 mom was diagnosed with Lymphoma and battled long and hard into remission. In years prior she stayed by her husband's side as he fought leukemia twice all while raising three kids.
In 2020, during this once in a century pandemic mom fell ill again; but this time with the deadly cancer called Uterine Papillary Serous Carcinoma aka UPSC. She underwent 6 rounds of heavy chemo, debulking cancer surgery, and 31 rounds of radiation. As result of the intense radiation mom developed EoE (Eosinophilic esophagitis) and her esophagus became severely damaged to the point where she lost her voice. The pain and lack of eating compounded with her being diabetic lead to the need of a blood transfusion, along with an extraordinary amount of fluids for hydration as well as oxygen. Mom was told she would need a feeding tube which would be another risky surgery. This would be needed in order for her to get strong enough to start chemo all over again. Sadly during her current stay at St. Mary's hospital it was discovered that her cancer has spread like wild fire through-out her body and into to her brain where there is no stopping it this time.
Mom has been to the emergency room so so many times now and, due to Covid no family are permitted to visit making it a very sad place to be for a woman to whom family is literally her life. We have been on the phones all day making sure we get updates as well getting everything prepared for what we always hoped would never happen. We have to sadly say this time the light at the end of the tunnel is very, very dim.....she is still waiting for her feeding tube.
Mom is currently at St. Marys hospital and will be discharged early February where she will receive 24/7 Hospice in the comforts of her own home. This is where she will be comforted surrounded by loved ones, talking about memories, laughing, crying, and celebrating HER.
We are asking for help to cover the finances of anything she needs for end of life costs. This will include all that insurance doesn't cover, anywhere she wants to go or experience if she can even leave the house. Also something we don't want to talk about.... funeral costs and all that comes with that devastation.
No one is ever ready to say goodbye to a loved one, let alone their mommy... we have to face reality and trust science. We just want whatever time left with mom to be the best for her.
Our hearts go out to everyone and we thank you for taking the time to read this. Hold your loved ones closer each night and don't forget to say the words "I love you".
When saying your prayers maybe think of a fond memory you have shared with Carolann.. I know it will put a smile on your face:)
She feels it...
