Love Linsey's Life
Donation protected
10 September 2022
With a heavy heart, we announce that Linsey died on Saturday. Linsey showed immense determination to live her best life in the months following her diagnosis, but after only five months, her brave battle with cancer ended.
We are so grateful to everyone that participated in a fundraising event and to the large number of people that kindly donated to this page. Linsey was overwhelmed by your kindness, selflessness and support and every activity or new donation brought her hope.
We are aware that fundraising events are still in progress and we will send a more detailed update in due course, but for now, please respect our wishes for privacy as we come to terms with our loss.
At 37 Linsey has spent the last year going to many GP and hospital appointments due to feeling unwell. Following numerous blood tests, scans and operations, Linsey suddenly became extremely poorly during the recent Easter weekend. On Easter Monday she took herself to A&E and within a short period of time unfortunately learnt the devastating news that she has a stage 4, advanced, inoperable and metastatic stomach cancer that has sadly spread to her omentum and spine - it is considered untreatable. Linsey has been offered palliative care in the form of of chemotherapy.
Despite this awful news, she along with her family, have searched medical sites and survivor stories to find hope in an alternative treatment, that might prolong her life beyond the prognosis time of less than 12 months. Her consultant is trying to find a UK clinical trial but due to the nature of Linsey's cancer, we have been advised not to get our hopes up. However, we have learnt that trials available overseas offer different eligibility factors to those in the UK, so our aim is to secure a private trial.
Linsey has two children Harvey (15) and Lily (12) and every additional day she gains will help her prepare them for a future without her. Please can you help us by participating in a fundraising event or by offering a donation so that we have the funds available to secure a trial if she is deemed eligible. We desperately hope this will be the case. Coming together to fundraise will help create new memories for Linsey, her husband Dean and their children and of course give hope at this difficult time. Private trials cost in the region of £60 000 but we will update this page with an actual figure if and when a trial is secured.
Since learning of her diagnosis Linsey has been trying to live her best life, making every day and moment count. She has a huge sense of fun and spends most of her time singing and dancing to Disney songs, performing solo versions of musicals (despite her vocal range) and admiring The Queen! She is an amazing mum, wife, daughter, sister, auntie, niece, cousin, friend and work colleague who puts her two children at the forefront of everything she does.
We will be hugely appreciative of any support you can offer this young family but please note before you consider a donation or fundraising event, that if treatment is not possible, we would like to use any funds raised to continue making memories and secure Linsey's wishes for Harvey and Lily.
Gofundme have asked for the following information to be provided as part of this story.
My name is Nette and I am one of Linsey's sisters. I have set up a bank account specifically for funds that are raised through this platform or from the various fundraising activities kindly organised. Our family originate from Widnes and this is where Linsey and her family still live. At this time we are unable to provide the exact details of how the money raised will be used as we are still contacting, self-referring and trying to gain access to a private clinical trial. No funds will be withdrawn from the bank account until clear details of the provider of this alternative treatment have been shared through an update on this and our facebook page. Once established and communicated, funds from this bank account will be transferred directly to the treatment provider. Thank you again for such an amazing response in such a short period of time ... you have given us hope.
