Love Offering for Ed & Sally Tanner

My sister, Sally Archer Tanner and Ed Tanner met in Georgia's mandate school (police academy). After a long courtship, they married in April 2009. As career law enforcement officers, they found in each other a kindred spirit. They were also blessed with a blended family that they love very much.

Ed worked as a Field Training Officer for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s department for 11 years. After leaving the force, he found other forms of employment. In early 2020 he started showing the first signs of cognitive impairment. In October 2020 he was involved in a single car accident and his symptoms continued to worsen.

Sally filed for Social Security Disability benefits for Ed in March of 2021. During that time, it was discovered that he had early-onset frontotemporal dementia. The claim was denied, and the case has been appealed, awaiting approval. Sally also applied for Medicare on Ed’s behalf but was also turned down for that. Ed suffered a stroke early this summer and the hospital bill was more than $10,000. With no insurance, Medicare or social security benefits (Ed is only 59), they are at the mercy of any health crisis that comes along.

Sadly, this evil disease has changed Ed’s personality so that he’s no longer the same person that we all know and love. He cannot do many of the things we all take for granted and can no longer be left alone. Without benefits, Sally has no choice but to work 6 days a week to make ends meet. She is a very proud woman and would never personally ask for help. That’s why we’re asking for your assistance. Our goal of $10,000.00 will be just enough to pay some of the existing medical bills, hire someone for respite care and provide a small cushion for any unforeseeable circumstances. As first responders, Ed and Sally have sacrificed many hours for the protection of and service to others. Any and all donations will be received with love and gratitude.
